There is no denying the fact that fruits are nature’s one of the best gifts that we’ve because they’re not just delicious but also full of nutrition, antioxidants, fiber, and they also help prevent several health issues such as certain types of cancers and heart disease. But it turns out how you consume your fruits makes a huge difference in how healthy it actually is for you.
A recent study published in the U.K. Journal BMJ says that consumption of mass produced supermarket juices on regular basis may cause more harm than good, all thanks to the high amount of sugar in these drinks.
Researchers examined long term health records of people who consumed smoothies prepared with high amounts of fruit juices and found that these people have 21 percent higher risk of developing diabetes. On the other hand, people who consumed 2 or more serving of whole fruits such as blueberries, grapes, apples were 23 percent less likely to develop type 2 diabetes.
Some fruits such as mangoes, peaches etc. have high content of sucrose and fructose as compared to others. Fructose causes blood sugar level to spike, which is why you end up feeling hungry so soon even after consuming fruits and drinking smoothies that have fruits with high levels of fruit sugar in them.
That does not mean you have to panic or have to stop eating your smoothies, you just have look smart ways to continue enjoying them like blending fruits with almond, soy or coconut milk.
