Ras Al Khaimah: A Pakistani family of three survived a fall into a ravine from the UAE’s tallest mountain here on Friday, RAK Police said, when their vehicle veered off the mountain road and overturned.
Major Tareq Al Sharhan, head of the RAK police ambulance and rescue department, told Gulf News that the accident occurred when the the father, mother and their son were driving up Jebel Jais.
He said police received a call on Friday after 6pm from witnesses on the road.
Initially, the rescue team could not reach the family as the car fell into a deep and narrow area.
The rescue team called Ras Al Khaimah Police Air wing, who transported the mother to Saqr hospital, while the father and son were transported to the hospital by national ambulance.
The mother suffered a fracture in her leg.
Her husband and son sustained minor injuries.
Maj. Al Sharhan urged all motorists to take all precautions when driving in mountainous areas and to abide by traffic rules for their own safety and that of others.
